  • What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Counselling and Psychotherapy are both types of talking therapy. Counselling generally refers to shorter term therapy, and Psychotherapy is considered as in-depth, long-term therapy. Both can provide a safe space in which you are able to feel listened to, understood and supported. Therapy may help you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and why you feel or behave the way that you do. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with a therapist who accepts and understands your experiences can lead to feelings of self-acceptance and peace. Therapy may also act as a space to talk about traumatic experiences, to process difficult feelings, emotions and memories associated with them.
  • Will it help me?
Every-one person is different, but I believe if the environment, therapist, and modality is the right fit for the individual – therapy can help most people, if they are willing (and able) to commit fully to the process. During your initial assessment we will discuss what you wish to gain from therapy, and what realistic outcomes may look like for you. However, whilst rewarding, therapy can be a difficult process. Particularly if you are talking about difficult experiences. Sometimes it might start to feel worse before it gets better. However, with commitment and persistence through difficult stages, many people find it transformational.
  • How long do sessions last?
Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
  • How often do I need to attend?
When starting with a new client I encourage them to attend weekly, initially, so we can get to know each other and build a rapport. Once you feel more comfortable you can change to bi-weekly appointments if this suits you better. For returning clients I can offer one off or monthly appointments if wanting to talk through a specific difficult of if feeling you require a ‘top up’. I do not have any ‘set limits’ on session numbers and I am happy to take on longer term clients. However, I suggest committing to at least 6 – 8 sessions of therapy, dependent on what you would like to work on, to see the benefits.
  • How will I pay?
You can pay bank transfer. I ask for payment at the time of booking your session to secure your slot.
  • What if I cannot attend?
I understand that life can sometimes get in the way of plans. If you can provide 24 hours’ notice of your session time I will provide you with a full refund or rearrange the session to another mutually convenient time
